The ownership and management of the Trenton Hercs Junior A hockey club and the Quinte West have reached an agreement on a new two-year deal for the use of the facilities at the Trenton Community Gardens.
“Quinte West wishes the Hercs much success for the upcoming season and looks forward to a long relationship with our local Junior A Hockey Club,’’ said Mayor John Williams.
In a statement by Hercs management, co-owner Brad Teichmann said the Hercs would like to thank everyone for all of their support.
“We are in the process of building our 2008/09 team and aim to provide a great product for our fans, and sponsors of Quinte West and area,’’ said Teichmann. “We are very proud to be a part of the Quinte West community now and for many years to come. We are committed to bringing a championship back to Quinte West and we will continue our focus on hockey related matters.’’
Quinte West and the Trenton Hercs struck an agreement Tuesday on a new two year deal for the use of the Trenton Community Gardens.
In a press release issued Thursday the city stated, that they look forward to a long relationship with the Junior A Hockey Club.
The agreement comes following heightened tension between the city and the Hercs earlier this month.
An outstanding bill for ice time, had the city originally threatening to seek other organizations to fill the Hercs allotted ice time.
The quarrel was laid to rest last week when a final cheque of $19,053 was handed over to the city. A certified cheque of $5,000 was paid to city several weeks prior.
Both sides have been negotiating for several weeks.
“We are in the process of building our 2008/09 team and aim to provide a great product for our fans and sponsors of Quinte West and area,” stated Team co-owner Brad Teichmann in the release.
“We are very proud to be a part of the Quinte West community now and for many years to come, and are committed to bringing a championship back to this city.”
